International Day

A special “Thank You!” goes out to all of the parents who volunteered their time for International Day last Friday.  Mrs. Sewald organized an epic adventure encompassing many cultures from all over the world.  Pre-K visited Italy, Thailand, Puerto Rico, and South Korea. In Italy we learned about some of the foods that Italian children enjoy eating.  While visiting Thailand, we were surprised to find that one of our students already knew how to count to 10 in Thai.  Our trip through Puerto Rico included a lesson about Three Kings Day.  The children of this country set out hay filled boxes  to receive gifts from “the kings” on this holiday.  Our South Korean tour guides taught us about traditional a traditional Korean hanbok.   Each child made their own folded paper version to share at home.

Our class seemed to truly enjoy the experience.  The PK students were very polite and great listeners.  It certainly helped that each speaker did a superb job of adapting their content to meet the needs of the age of the visitors.

International Day

This Friday, January 14th, WTN will be hosting International Day.  Parents from throughout the grades will be presenting activities, stories, and music from countries of their heritage.  The children, Pre-K through 5, will have their own passports to carry as they travel from country to country.  The Pre-K will be visiting Italy, Puerto Rico, Thailand, and South Korea.  Our very own Jeanie and Michelle will be leading the South Korean activities.

Please Note:  The activity from Puerto Rico makes use of a shoe box.  If you have a shoe box or two at home that you no longer need, please send them in by Friday for the Pre-K students to use.
