About Us

About Mrs. Marie Forst

I have been teaching young children for over 16 years. After a brief stint teaching Pre-K here in Pennsylvania, my husband and I packed up our pets and headed out west in 1999. We ended up in Southern California where I taught kindergarten in Fontana, CA for 7 years.  The sunsets were amazing, the beach was only an hour away, and we had wonderful friends.

Then we realized our clocks were ticking.

Our first son was born in 2004 and we were excited to be invited back to PA by WT a year later. Both of our families were jubilant that we were ready to return to the land of green hills.

I am in my element in a Pre-K classroom. When asked why I teach such young children, I always respond in the same way. I have the only job where my clients tell me that they love me everyday, and if anyone is upset, all you have to do is sing and everything gets better.

About Mrs. Katie Pless

I grew up in a small town in the Laurel Highlands called Mt. Pleasant,  Pa. My childhood consisted of running barefoot through the grass, exploring in the woods, and splashing in puddles at my soccer games. As I grew up, I found myself pining for a life in the city. So, after college, I packed up my things and moved to Pittsburgh. In a few years, I married my high school sweetheart on a beach in Tulum, Mexico with our friends and family there to support us. We now have a 2 year old son, named Cameron, who keeps our lives and hearts filled with joy.

I have been teaching for over nine years now and could not be happier to be teaching at WT! I started out teaching in mostly early learning facilities, educating children ranging from infants to third graders. While each age group holds a special place in my heart, I feel at home in the Pre-K room. Having the opportunity to be a part of the educational career of young children is a blessing that few get to experience! Plus, there is never a shortage of hugs and knock-knock jokes!

  1. Dear Marie,
Your blog is just like you….warm in spirit, full of amazing ideas and inspiration, and beautiful throughout! Thanks for inviting me to see your work. I’m looking forward to giving a blog a try myself. So, brace yourself for the many questions to follow in the future…. 🙂

  2. Hooray for blogs! I hope this is the start of a trend for WT educators!

    • Thanks, Kim! I hope others find how much easier this is than standard newsletters, as well. I feel like I can share much more with families with this format. So many of our families have extended family members in other parts of the world. This makes sharing with all of them possible.

  3. Dearest Marie: I am so proud of you and the teacher you have become. You have started with the kids at the right age. You are making thier experience great right at the beginning and hopefully, thier future teachers keep allowing them to have fun while learning.
