How hot is the sun?

One of last week’s Morning Messages asked the question, “How hot is the sun?”  This question came from our collection of student generated study focuses about space.  Here are a the answers we received.

  • Too hot!
  • Really hot.
  • A bunch of hot.
  • A lot and lot and lot and lot and lot of hot!
  • It’s really, really, really hot!
  • No, it’s a cold one.
  • It’s really hot, hot, hot, hot!
  • Really hot.

I guess that means it must be hot.

So of course we looked it up in a book to get a more accurate answer.  (Maybe they remembered to tell you last weekend?)  We found out that the surface of the Sun is 10,000 degrees.  But just in case you want to learn more about the sun, here is the video from They Might Be Giants that we watched, too.
