Sink and Float

Our science center recently transformed into a mini-lab.  Following our rock projects, some of the children were curious about how the rocks would fare in the water.  We decided to put them to the test.  However, placing a bunch of rocks in the water didn’t seem very interesting, so we added some other items around the room, as well.  First, the children predicted which items would sink and which would bob to the surface.  The next step was to place the object gently in the water to test their theories.  After they found their answer, the object was placed on a graph depicting the outcome.
