Hello incoming kindergarten parents!  I am anxiously awaiting the start of school this year. I can’t wait to get to know you and your children better! As most of you know, this is my second year at WT North and my first year as lead kindergarten teacher. Prior to WT, I worked as a kindergarten co-teacher at the Ellis School . I am an almost life-long Pittsburgher, minus the four years I spent at college in Cleveland (Steelers fans, please don’t hold this against me!). I currently live downtown with a wonderful roommate, my older brother Michael. In my free time I love cooking and baking, a passion that I love to share with my students.

Kindergarten is certainly a big change from Pre-K, but I will try to make the transition as smooth as possible. While the curriculum is more rigorous, including guided reading groups, writing workshop, and a deeper exploration of math concepts, the heart of the program is play. I participated in the Pittsburgh Play Academy with Mrs. Forst and share a similar love and appreciation of play. One of the things I am most excited for this year is dramatic play. I have heard of and seen what wonderful and creative actors your children are, and cannot wait to experience this first hand.

If you’d like, please remember to schedule a visit to the kindergarten classroom before the start of school. See you very soon!
